Google just admitted the problem.

On 15 October, Google announced it's adding more links to AI Mode and AI Overviews, moving them higher in answers, and testing a box near the top that features one or two websites.

On 15 October, Google announced it's adding more links to AI Mode and AI Overviews, moving them higher in answers, and testing a box near the top that features one or two websites. Why would Google do that? Because the click is dying. Pew Research found people click a result 8% of the time when an AI summary appears, versus 15% when it doesn't. Only 1% click a source cited inside the summary. Read that again: the citation is the new ranking. If AI doesn't name you in the answer, a better link position won't save you. Three questions every marketing team should be able to answer this week:

  1. Which AI answers mention us?
  2. Which mention our competitors instead?
  3. What sources is AI reading to decide? We built EYE to answer exactly those three. šŸ‘‰ https://eye.synapsedatagroup.com/?utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=geo50&utm_content=d01 #GEO #AISearch #GoogleAIMode #DigitalMarketing
